We got our first Aussie nearly 16 years ago.We saved her from going to the pound. She was about 2 years old. We did not know for several years what kind of dog she even was. She was an Aussie with a tail & 2 different color eyes named Simba which she didn't even answer to. Our Daughter Belle called her Pebbles. She answered & her name became Pebbles.
Then we got Spirit a Black Lab/Irish Setter mix. Outside of Wal-mart, I was glad to see even though the puppies were free, the owner of the litter carefully chose the people he gave them to. I was one of the lucky ones :)
After Pebbles passed on at 15 years old though we only had the honor of having her for 13 years. Both Pebbles & Spirit were great dogs & are truly missed. After a lot of thinking about saving yet another dog by adopting, and a lot of research on Aussies. I was intrigued and learned so much about them that I didn't even know about Pebbles.
So, I decided I wanted an Aussie puppy. A long search for a good breeder began. We decided whites sharp lil Aussies was the one. We got Bella Rose a mini Aussie. Which was different and a new learning experience, she was a lot smaller than I was used to but could do everything a standard could do. She is amazing. I still was used to having my big dog though.
After Spirit passed at nearly 13 years, we got Shamrock Rose a standard Aussie. Named after them both combined. That is how Shamrock Rose Aussies began! She is my shadow and is so in tune with me, I can't even describe it. I wish more people were as kind, loyal and loving as they are lol.
Why did I choose an Aussie over another lab? Well, it was a hard decision, because labs are great dogs too, who are also great with kids. At that point though I decided I wanted to breed the Aussies. :)
